forget we remember

on nights like this
when a gentle breeze
caresses my cheek
it makes me think
it makes me think

cold hands
warm cheek
eyes locked
parted lips

let’s forget we remember
let’s have an adventure
the night’s not over
not for us
we can be each other’s

whatever’s got you down
whoever’s holding you back
let’s forget we remember
let’s have an adventure
no one’s here but us

look at me
breathe in
and let go

the night’s not over
not for us
we can be each other’s

press your lips
against mine
let me softly place a kiss
look at the stars
let me gently breathe you in

will you forget all your worries
make room for this moment
can your heart be ready

whisper
yes
the night’s not over
not for us
we can be each other’s

a star

somehow
you made me feel
like a star
I shone
my brightest
in the midst
of all the darkness
all because
you looked
and kept looking
at me

wine

let’s sit and talk
across the table
with drink in hand
no don’t get nearer
if you kiss me
you’ll fall in love
with my wined lips
and not the words in me

balance

finding balance

a cross between

feeling the ache

from your toes

to the depths

of your soul

to feeling

the rise and fall

of your chest

and breathing again

at the edge of the ocean

image

I’ll sleep better
with the coming waves
hushing my mind
not a lingering thought
left behind
with the stars above
guiding my eyes
to the ribbon of light
I’ll follow the moon tonight
with the salty air
filling my lungs
the worldly scent
cleansing my soul
with the ocean bubbles
caressing my skin
releasing the tension
indenting the sand
with my body’s impression
yes I’ll sleep
at the edge of the ocean
where I won’t
drown as I dream
and I’ll wake
in the warmth
of the morning sun
with a clear view
of the pink sky
and the horizon
refreshed
with the strength
to swim again

Reflections of a brick layer

this brick I lay
the last
on this wall I’ve made
I realize
doesn’t surround
me
but you
instead
and maybe
that’s why
it took me so long
to let go
and write this
because I knew
in its shadow
I would no longer
stand under

flashes

the turn
the white car
the scream
the swerve
the grey car
the hit
the skid
the flip
the escape
the hug
the kiss
the cries
the thank god
we’re alive
